The Undergraduate Certificate in Entrepreneurial Mindset is a short qualification for people who want to build and test business ideas, or bring an enterprising approach to an organisation. It runs 26 weeks full time. You study how to spot opportunities, size up a market, shape a value proposition, and put together a business case. Assessment is practical: pitching, planning, and working through problems with real constraints.
An undergraduate certificate is the shortest qualification on the Australian Qualifications Framework, sitting below a diploma and a bachelor degree. It is made up of units of study, each with a credit point value, usually delivered across a semester or trimester. Some units build on others, so the order matters. There is no research thesis at this level. Your final unit often acts as a capstone, where you pull the skills together into a project. If you later move into a bachelor degree, you may be able to apply for credit for units you have completed, subject to the receiving institution's rules.
You work on the parts of starting something that people skip: talking to potential customers, checking whether anyone will pay, costing the thing out, and deciding what to do next. Teamwork and pitching come up constantly, because that is how ideas get funded and approved. You also look at how established organisations run projects and new ventures, which is where the project management subject area fits. The emphasis is on doing rather than memorising theory.
This suits someone with a business idea who wants structure and feedback before spending more. It also suits people already working who want to move into project or innovation roles, and international students who want a short Australian qualification before deciding on further study. Entry is usually through completion of Year 12 or equivalent, or relevant work experience. English proficiency is required for international applicants, commonly IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall for coursework at this level, with TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced and the university's own English programmes accepted as equivalents. The Department of Home Affairs sets a separate English threshold for the Student visa itself. Check the official page for exact entry requirements and unit details.
Australian employers in these areas include start-ups, small and medium businesses, consulting firms, government agencies, not-for-profits, and larger organisations with internal project or innovation teams. Graduates may be eligible for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream if they meet the requirements, and student visa holders can work up to 48 hours per fortnight while studying. Confirm visa and work rights on the Department of Home Affairs website.
It typically takes 26 weeks, with intakes in Semester 1 (Feb/Mar), Semester 2 (Jul).
Tuition is around A$10,880 total. Fees change yearly, confirm with an advisor.
