About this program

This double master's combines an MBA with a Master of International Business at the University of the Sunshine Coast. You graduate with two qualifications in two years instead of taking them one after the other. The MBA half covers the core of running an organisation: accounting for managers, economics, marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy and leadership. The international business half looks outward, how firms trade across borders, how multinationals structure themselves, how currency movements and trade policy affect decisions, and how to enter and grow in overseas markets.

Australian master's degrees are structured around units of study, each worth a set number of credit points. A full-time load is usually four units a semester, and you need to accumulate enough credit points to graduate. USC runs on a semester calendar, with some postgraduate units offered in intensive or trimester modes. Because this is a double degree, the credit points from both awards are built into one study plan, so you are not repeating foundation subjects. Most master's programmes finish with a capstone, a strategy project, a consulting-style case, or a research component where you apply what you have learned to a real business problem. Confirm the exact structure and unit list on the official course page.

Work-integrated learning is common in Australian business master's degrees, and this one sits in a region with plenty of small and medium exporters, tourism operators and agribusinesses. Placements and industry projects give you something concrete to talk about in interviews. The skills you build are the ones employers actually ask for: reading a set of financial statements, building a market entry case, negotiating across cultures, managing a project team, and writing a business report that a board will read.

This suits people who want a management career with an international dimension. You might be a recent graduate adding a business qualification before you look for work, or someone a few years into a career who wants to move into management or shift into export, trade or global operations. If you are an international student, the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream lets you stay and work after you finish, and while you study your visa allows 48 hours of work per fortnight. English requirements are set out on the official page, IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall is the usual coursework-postgraduate standard, with TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge C1 Advanced accepted as equivalents. The Department of Home Affairs sets a separate English threshold for the Student visa itself, so check both.

Entry requirements

English: International applicants must evidence English proficiency. IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall is the common undergraduate and coursework-postgraduate standard, rising to 7.0–7.5 for teaching, nursing, medicine, law and social work. TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced and the university’s own English programmes are accepted as equivalents; the Department of Home Affairs sets a separate English threshold for the Student visa itself.
International students: Registered on CRICOS for international students. A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for this course supports a Student visa (subclass 500) application; Overseas Student Health Cover is required for the full duration.
