The Bachelor of Business Management at the International Graduate Institute is a three-year degree built around how organisations actually run. You'll study core areas like accounting, marketing, organisational behaviour, economics, business law and data analysis, then choose electives or a major to shape the degree around the work you want. Assessment is a mix of exams, reports, group projects and presentations, so you're not just memorising theory, you're practising the communication and analysis that managers use daily.
Australian bachelor degrees are made up of units of study, each worth a set number of credit points. A standard full-time load is eight units a year, split across two semesters or three trimesters depending on the institution's calendar. Over three years you'll complete around 24 units, usually 16 core and eight electives or major units. Many degrees finish with a capstone unit in the final year, a project where you apply what you've learned to a real business problem, often for an external organisation.
Business degrees in Australia increasingly include work-integrated learning. That might be an internship, a consulting project with a local company, or a placement unit where you spend time in an organisation and reflect on it academically. IGI's structure and placement options should be confirmed on the official course page, but the pattern across Australian business schools is that these experiences sit in the later years, after you've built enough foundation to contribute.
You'll graduate able to read a balance sheet, interpret market data, manage a team project, write a business case and pitch an idea. The degree suits school leavers who want a broad commercial education, career changers who need a qualification that opens doors, and students who plan to specialise later through a master's. It also works as a pathway to further study, a bachelor degree is the standard entry point to postgraduate coursework or research.
International students should note the English requirement: IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall is the common standard for undergraduate and coursework postgraduate entry, though teaching, nursing, medicine, law and social work ask for 7.0–7.5. TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced and the university's own English programmes are accepted as equivalents. The Department of Home Affairs sets a separate English threshold for the Student visa itself. While studying, a student visa generally allows work of up to 48 hours per fortnight during term. After graduating, the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream may let you stay and work in Australia, depending on your circumstances. Tuition is published on the CRICOS register under course code 112717J, check there and on the official page for current figures and intake details.
