The Master of Business Administration (Business Analytics) is a two-year postgraduate degree for people who want to run organisations and make decisions from data rather than instinct. You will study core business subjects, accounting, finance, marketing, operations, organisational behaviour and strategy, alongside analytics units that cover statistical modelling, data visualisation, predictive analytics and the tools used to turn raw business data into decisions. The mix means you graduate able to read a profit and loss statement and build the model behind next quarter's forecast.
Australian master's degrees are normally one to two years full time and sit at level 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework. This one runs two years, usually across four semesters or trimesters, with each unit of study carrying a set number of credit points. You complete a defined number of core units, a set of analytics specialisation units and electives, and most MBA programmes finish with a capstone unit or applied project where you work through a real business problem end to end. Assessment is a mix of exams, reports, group projects and presentations. Confirm the exact unit list, credit point totals and any capstone requirement on the official course page.
You learn to frame a business problem, find the data that answers it, choose the right analytical method and explain the result to people who do not work in analytics. That last part matters more than the software. Managers who can translate between a spreadsheet and a boardroom are the ones who get listened to. You also practise the ordinary work of management: leading teams, budgeting, negotiating, writing a business case and presenting to a client. Group work is heavy, because that is how business actually runs.
This degree suits early- and mid-career professionals moving towards management, analysts who want the business side of the job, and people changing sectors who need both the MBA credential and a technical edge. It is a coursework degree, not a research thesis pathway. If you are aiming at a PhD or a research career, an honours year or a research master's is the better route.
You will study in Sydney, one of Australia's main business centres, which gives you access to the professional services, banking, technology and consulting firms that hire analytics-literate managers. Australian institutions in this space build industry links through guest speakers, industry projects and placement or internship units where the programme includes them. If you hold a Student visa, you can work up to 48 hours per fortnight while your course is in session. After graduating, the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream lets eligible graduates stay and work in Australia; check your eligibility with the Department of Home Affairs. English requirements for this course are published on the official page, IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall is the common coursework-postgraduate standard, with TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced and the institution's own English programmes accepted as equivalents. The Student visa has a separate English threshold set by the Department of Home Affairs. Tuition is published on the CRICOS register under course code 112983B. Confirm fees, intake dates and unit details on the official page before you apply.
