The Bachelor of Business (Information Systems) is a three-year degree for people who want to work where business decisions meet technology. You study how organisations use systems to run, accounting and finance basics, data and analytics, business analysis, systems design, project management, and the governance and security questions that come with holding customer data. Core business units sit alongside information systems units, so you graduate able to talk to both the finance team and the developers.
Australian bachelor degrees are normally three years of full-time study, and this one follows that pattern. The academic year usually runs across two semesters or three trimesters, with each unit of study carrying a set number of credit points. You accumulate credit points across the degree, and you need a specified total to graduate. Some institutions build in a capstone unit in the final year, often a team project for a real client, and many business degrees include work-integrated learning such as an internship or industry project. Confirm the exact unit list, credit point totals and whether a placement is optional or built in on the official course page.
Expect to work with databases and SQL, model business processes, gather and document requirements, and use analytics tools to turn raw data into something a manager can act on. You will also cover the business side: how organisations are structured, how projects are scoped and delivered, and the legal and ethical rules around information. Group work is common, because that is how systems projects run in practice. By third year you should be able to sit in a room with stakeholders, work out what they need, and translate it into a specification a technical team can build from.
This suits school leavers who like both commerce and technology, and people already working in business who want to move into systems, analysis or project roles. It is not a pure computer science degree, you will not spend three years on algorithms, and it is not a pure commerce degree either. If you want to be the person in the middle, translating between the two, this is the right shape of qualification. International applicants need to meet the English requirement, commonly IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall for undergraduate study, and should check the Student visa English threshold set by the Department of Home Affairs separately, as it is a different requirement. While studying, a Student visa generally allows work of up to 48 hours per fortnight during term. After graduating, the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream is the usual pathway for staying on to work in Australia. Tuition is published on the CRICOS register, check the current figure there and confirm all details on the official page.
Typical employers include banks and financial services, insurers, supermarkets and retailers, logistics companies, health providers, all levels of government, and IT consultancies. Many graduates start in analyst or support roles and move into product, architecture or management later.
It typically takes 3 years, with intakes in Semester 1 (Feb/Mar), Semester 2 (Jul).
Tuition is around A$48,000 total. Fees change yearly, confirm with an advisor.

Student Visa Student Visa Subclass 500 Refusals: The Reasons That Come Up Most
Most subclass 500 refusals trace back to four things: the Genuine Student requirement, funds evidence, course-progression logic, or an incomplete CoE. Here's what each one actually means and how to fix it before you apply.
