The Advanced Diploma of Program Management is a one-year qualification for people who already manage projects and now want to manage groups of them. Where a project manager delivers one thing on time and on budget, a program manager looks across several related projects and asks whether the whole set is still worth doing. That shift in thinking is what this course is built around.
You will work through the units that sit behind program management as it is practised in Australia: establishing and leading the program, managing benefits, engaging stakeholders, governing the program, and controlling the program's finances and risks. Assessment is practical rather than exam-heavy. Expect to write program plans, build benefits registers, run governance meetings and present to a simulated steering committee. The course is delivered by Albright Institute of Business and Language, with English language support available through Albright Institute of English if you need it before you start.
Australian vocational qualifications are structured around units of competency rather than semesters of subjects. Each unit carries a national code and a credit value, and you need to be assessed as competent in every unit to graduate. The Advanced Diploma sits at the top of the VET range, above the Diploma, and is generally accepted as a pathway into a bachelor degree with credit for prior study at some institutions, how much credit depends on the receiving university, so check with them directly. Delivery is one year, and the exact mode, intake dates and unit sequence are set out on the official course page.
This course suits team leaders and project managers who have been handed a portfolio and want a formal qualification to match the job. It also suits people coming from construction, IT, health administration or government who are moving into program roles. If you are an international student, a Student visa lets you work up to 48 hours per fortnight while you study, and on completion you may be eligible for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) post-study work stream. English entry is typically IELTS Academic 6.0–6.5 overall, though the Student visa itself has a separate English threshold set by the Department of Home Affairs. Tuition is published on the CRICOS register under course code 104459M. Confirm all details on the official page before you apply.
Australian employers in these roles include federal and state government departments, defence contractors, banks and insurers, construction and engineering firms, hospitals and health services, universities, and the consulting arms of the large accounting firms.
It typically takes 1 year, with intakes in Semester 1 (Feb/Mar), Semester 2 (Jul).
Tuition is around A$31,000 total. Fees change yearly, confirm with an advisor.
